Mrs. Lanetta Misage

Dear Parents and Students,

I'd like to welcome all of you to another exciting school year!!  To begin, I thought I'd let you know a bit about myself.  First of all, this is my 11th year at Martinez Elementary where I have served as both a 4th and 5th grade teacher.  I am originally from Corpus Christi where I graduated from Richard King High School.  I went on from there to College at Duke University in North Carolina where I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology.  Afterwards, I began a 12 year career in Retail Management with the JC Penney Company, with my last position being at the Corporate Office in Plano, Texas.  After having my second son, Ryan, I decided to stay at home to be a full time mom.  Consequently,  I was then able to volunteer more of my time helping at my older son's elementary school, where I was able to see first hand the need for quality teachers at all levels.  It was there that my love for teaching truly blossomed.  As a result,  I proceeded to pursue my desire to become a Teacher after moving down to the Valley from Austin 14 years ago.  Since then, my passion for teaching has continued to grow with the additional completion of my Master's Degree in Elementary Math.   My husband says that I'm ready to go for my Doctorate, I'm not sure, what I do know is that I'm enjoying working with all  students and now, in my new position as Lead Teacher, I'm appreciating the opportunity to lend a helping hand to my co-workers with our one vision of student success in mind.  I look forward to a bountiful year filled with new and exciting opportunities for all where each child feels welcomed, challenged, and valued all at the same time.  Together we can make this a wonderful year---let's do it!!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Misage
