Mrs. Diana D. Garcia-Chapa
Hello and
welcome to another splendid year at R.D. Martinez. I've taught 3rd
grade for six years and now this is my sixth year in 4th grade, and "I'm
Loving it!"
Now, a little summary about
myself. I was born in Rio Grande City but was raised in Houston for
fourteen years. My parents (Efrain & Rosie Garcia) and I moved to
the valley in 94' and I graduated from Mission High School in 98'. I
continued my education and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in
Corrections and also received my Master's in Sociology from UTPA (a.k.a UTRGV).
During my college years I was able to substitute and later worked as a
paraprofessional. At that time I realized that I wanted a career in
education. So I proceeded to get my Bilingual EC-4 certification and
found my place here at R. D. Martinez. I live in the Sharyland district (Mission) with my
husband (Arkadio) and my sons (Arkadio Alec and Evan Efrain). My wonderful step-daughters are from Weslaco. Nina, the
oldest is currently working at Texas A & M Corpus Christi, "Go
Islanders!" Molly, is also with her big sis at Corpus Christi and will be graduating this December. We are very proud of them.
I'm excited about this year, and
I'm looking forward to seeing my students grow into individual shining
stars. Have a wonderful and safe year!
