Mrs. Diana D. Garcia-Chapa
Hello and
welcome to another splendid year at R.D. Martinez. I've been teaching here since 2007! Yes, I consider R.D. Martinez as my second home. I have taught many and have built friendships with colleagues.
Now, a little summary about
myself. I was born in Rio Grande City but was raised in Houston for
fourteen years. My parents (Efrain & Rosie Garcia) and I moved to
the valley in 94' and I graduated from Mission High School in 98'. I
continued my education and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in
Corrections and also received my Master's in Sociology from UTPA (a.k.a UTRGV).
During my college years I was able to substitute and later worked as a
paraprofessional. At that time, I realized that I wanted a career in
education. So I proceeded to get my Bilingual EC-4 certification and
found my place here at R. D. Martinez.
I live in the Sharyland district (Mission) with my
husband (Arkadio) and my sons (Arkadio Alec 12 and Evan Efrain 8). Oh, and lets not forget our dog Jolene. I also have two step-daughters. Nina who is married to Mike and they have two sons, Maxon and Miles. My second step-daughter is Molly who is married to Frank. My family is growing and I am very blessed to have them.
I'm excited about this year, and
I'm looking forward to seeing my students grow into individual shining
stars. To my students, parents and colleagues, let's have a wonderful and safe year!
